iPAD APPS
The iPads in your classroom have a number of apps on them. The following page highlights some of the apps you may find useful in creating, sharing, and researching during the PYP Exhibition.
Sharing
Your blogs can be updated via the Edublogs app that is on the iPads. The interface is similar to the web interface but having the iPad can make adding photos, videos, and other media you create on your iPad, very easy to upload. If you have any questions or concerns about the Edublogs app, please go and see Mrs.terBorg as soon as possible. If you want to load this app onto your device at home, it would be a great way to keep up with your work at home.
CREATING
Book Creator is a great app for creating multi-media books that can be exported as iBooks or as movies. With Book Creator, in addition to adding photos and text to a page, you can also add drawings and on-screen annotations, your voice to share or explain information and videos that you have taken or created in other apps. You can even add a soundtrack to your book! For helpful advice, check out the Support page for Book Creator.
Adobe Voice is a very easy-to-use app for creating presentations using your voice, photos, and icons. The themes on Voice are customizable (you can change fonts and colors, as well as background music) and the options for adding graphics are plentiful, allowing you to tell your story in a creative and artistic way. Voice presentations can be downloaded as videos and embedded in your blogs.
MATHEMATICAL THINKING
Math can be one of those areas that can be neglected (for want of a better word) during Exhibition. The following apps would be great tools to have on hand to set up individualised learning for students:
Khan Academy have had an app for a while but it has not been as functional as the Website. That has all changed. The new app is brilliant and seamlessly delivers the videos and exercises almost more smoothly than on the web-based browser. Better than worksheets (so much better) the Khan Academy is a great tool for math teaching and can help you individualise, monitor, support, and extend your students during Exhibition.
